Dog Daycare Facility — Niles, MI — Bunk & Biscuit

State Of The Art Daycare Facility For Dogs

Each day they visit Bunk & Biscuit, your dog will be welcomed into their classroom by a highly trained Pet Tech Certified Daycare Tech to meet their friends. Daycare groups consist of just 15 dogs or less per classroom to maintain a safe environment. Groups are separated by size, age, temperament, and play styles. Throughout the day, dogs participate in constantly supervised group play both indoors and outdoors (weather permitting).

They play with jolly balls, chuck-it erratic balls, tennis balls, and even kiddie pools when the weather is nice. Each classroom is equipped with Blue-9 Klimbs (professional dog training platforms) so that our techs can work with the dogs every day that they are here. We work on basic manners such as sit, stay, recall and “4 on the floor” (no jumping) by using positive methods and Cheerios as training treats! Please note, if your dog is not allowed Cheerios, please provide treats or kibble that we can give them throughout the day.

Each group takes a mandatory rest/lunch break for one hour in the afternoon. During this time, our guests are escorted to our peaceful “Zen Den”. The Zen Den consists of separate 4’x4′ kennels with comfy Kuranda beds in a lowly lit room surrounded by pet-safe essential oil aromas and the sounds of nature to create a calm and soothing environment. At the end of the day, your dog will be freshened up and sent home smiling and ready for a nap after a fun-filled day or learning and playing with friends!

Daycare is great for:

  • Active breeds that “need a job”. Let us give them one and they will be tired; We promise!
  • Puppies with too much energy for working pet parents to handle alone.
  • Socializing with other four-legged friends and people. Socialization will help them be a better family pet. Being around new people, pets and situations will become less stressful and more of a normal process for them.
  • Pets with anxiety and/or stress. Playing with others is a great way to relieve stress and/or anxiety.
  • Plus, it is great for your pet’s health and waistline!

Senior Daycare

“Dog’s don’t stop playing because they grow old: Dogs grow old because they stop playing.”

Do you have a dog at home who’s a little bit older? Perhaps they spend their days just laying around, not getting much exercise at all? One of the greatest ways to put a little pep back into their step is with Senior Daycare! At Bunk & Biscuit our senior daycare is great for dogs who are out of shape, have bad hips, sore knees or those who are just starting to “show their age”.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, a special group in Daycare is dedicated to our ‘senior’ friends. Senior daycare is a structured day of Daycare scheduled with your senior dog’s needs in mind. Their day will include quiet group play, assisted swims to soothe achy muscles and joints, Canine Fit Paw work for core strengthening, individual massage time, story time and of course plenty of cozy nap time. Each day your pet is here, our Pet Tech certified tech will conduct a full Snout to Tail Assessment on them and also check their vitals (temperature, heart rate, and breathing rate). This assessment will check for unusual lumps, bumps, dry skin, rashes, ear infections, etc. A full report will be sent home with your dog at the end of each session.

The senior class will be kept at a smaller number to ensure each dog get the individual care they require. Their day will be specially tailored to their specific needs as we know that no two dogs are built the same!

Senior Daycare rate is $48 per dog per day. (Senior dogs are of course still welcome any day of the week. They will just participate in regular group play other days.) Call us at (269) 684-2865 for more details.

TLC (The Learning Center) Daycare

Have a dog that doesn’t do well in traditional daycare? Does your dog need a more structured setting or smaller playgroups throughout the day? Our  TLC Daycare specializes in dogs that may not do well in a traditional daycare setting but would benefit from a more structured setting that includes different mental and physical activities. Dogs that are unaltered or not group friendly are welcome to join us!

We have learned that one size does not fit all when it comes to doggie daycare. Some dogs can get overly tired and overstimulated by playing all day. Dogs can also become bored with the same routine. This new format ensures your dog gets plenty of rest, exercise, and playtime. Our TLC Daycare offers a unique rotation of playtime with other dogs that fit their play style, individual attention from our staff, and fun activities that are selected for your pet. Rather than putting your dog in a large group all day long, we will find out what they really love to do and rotate their time among several activities tailored specifically for your dogs needs.

We will individualize each dogs day to what they find most enjoyable, they will be able to try a variety of activities and decide which ones are their favorite!

Pricing: $50 per day. Available Monday through Friday.*

*TLC Daycare is located at our Training Facility location and reservations are required.

Benefits of Daycare:

  • Socialization: Puppies need to learn at a young age how to behave in groups of dogs and to trust new people. They will also learn basic commands/manners from our Techs. Socialization is good for older dogs as well. It can help them stay young and playful for years to come!
  • Confidence: Daycare can help even the most reserved dog with his confidence. Being with other dogs, they learn behaviors and social cues that humans can’t teach them. It may take some time, but you will see your dog grow into a whole new pooch!
  • Anxiety: Instead of staying home alone, worrying and possibly eating your furniture, daycare provides them with an escape from their anxiety.
  • Exercise: Your dog will burn off TONS of energy in daycare! They spend their day frolicking in the play yards, wrestling with their buddies, splashing in the pools, chasing tennis balls, popping bubbles and playing tug of war with each other. We also offer plenty of comfortable resting spots for when they’re ready to relax.

What to Expect AFTER Daycare:

  • Increased Appetite/Thirst: With extra activity, it’s normal for dogs to be more hungry or thirsty than usual. We have fresh water available at all times inside and out; however, when the dogs are busy having fun, they don’t always stop to drink as much as they should. We also offer lunch while your dog is here for daycare if requested. If we do not carry what he/she eats, you may bring a labeled Ziploc baggie of their food from home.
  • Sore Paws: The surface of our daycare areas include grass, pea gravel, concrete, rubber mulch, and mats. It is common for dogs who are new to us to experience tender feet. If we notice a dog’s paws becoming sore, we will limit their outdoor play and use bag balm on their pads. They don’t often show signs until they are home because they are having so much fun. To help relieve them, you can soak their paws in Epsom salt or rub Bag Balm or Vaseline on them several times a day.
  • Boo-Boos: Dogs play with their claws and teeth. The more active of a player your dog is, the more likely they are to come home with marks or scratches. Our groups are always supervised, and we do our best to keep our dogs safe and scratch-free, but sometimes it just happens. If we notice any marks on your dog, we will let you know right away.
  • Cooties: Daycare for dogs is really no different than daycare for children. Every child catches a cold at some point. Unfortunately, dogs cannot tell us when they don’t feel well. We may not know they are “sick” until they show physical signs such as sneezing, coughing or diarrhea. We do everything in our power to prevent illnesses in our facility, but nothing is foolproof. If we notice anything at all, we will let you know. If YOU notice your dog is not feeling well, please keep them (and any siblings) home to prevent spreading any illness.
